Chagall entre Guerre et Paix
The Musée du Luxembourg in the famous park I'm grateful to live next to is currently running an exhibition of the work of Marc Chagall. I'll admit that I knew very little about Chagall until watching a recent documentary on the lives of the artists who flocked to Paris during the 1920s. He was one of the many living in and around Montmartre, which was then more a grassy hill outside of central Paris, and a haven for those searching out cheap rent.
I tried several times to get into the exhibition, all on rather rainy, dull days. Before finally making it inside on the third try, I came away with some advice on how to find stages (very useful) and six postcards (essential) of Chagall's work.
The Luxembourg is a relatively small museum, for Paris, and the exhibition was packed.
More later!
